The band will say farewell to their Principal Cornet player
March 13, 2013We would like to announce the departure of our long serving Principal Cornet player, Christian Overhead, after 13 years with the band. His performance with Raunds Temperance Band at the Midlands Area Contest in March 2013 will be his final appearance.
Christian joined the band in 2000 on 3rd Cornet and has been with the band through their rise to the Championship. In addition to being a talented musician, he is also an award winning composer. Christian said of his moving on: "I have always put Raunds ahead of everything else and have had a fantastic 13 years with some great memories and some great friends. However, I feel now is the right time to develop my playing in other areas away from the brass band movement and to work more on my compositions."
Muscial Director Robin has said "We are obviously very sad that he has made this decision but appreciate and respect his reasons. We have benefited greatly from his playing prowess and his award-winning compositions so support him completely in this. We wish him the very best with his future."
Further announcements will be made with regards to a replacement in the near future.
