About Us
Raunds Temperance Band
Welcome to the home of the Raunds Temperance Band. Deeply rooted in our local community since 1886, we are proudly supported by Raunds Town Council. Today, we are a thriving, band that blends a welcoming community spirit with competing on the national contesting stage.
Recent Contest Success
Operating under a highly successful dual-conductor partnership with Musical Director Jonathan Pippen and Resident Conductor Matt Brown, the band is currently enjoying one of the most successful competitive chapters in our history.
Following a rebuilding phase that saw the band rise from the 4th Section to the Championship Section in the 2000s, our team has achieved an incredible run of recent form:

Midlands Area Champions 2024

National Finals Qualifiers in 2019, 2021, 2024, 2025, 2026

Return to the Championship Section: Following consecutive,
highly praised performances at the recent Midlands Area
contests, including a wonderful 2nd Place on Andrew
Wainwright’s Variations on 'Was Lebet' in 2026, the band has
officially topped the Midlands First Section regional grading
tables, earning promotion back to the Championship
Section from 2027.

Whether we are preparing for a major national contest or playing a summer bandstand, we believe that making great music should go hand-in-hand with a welcoming and friendly atmosphere. We are an ambitious but highly welcoming group of musicians, and are always keen to hear from experienced players or musicians looking to get back into banding.
