Meet the Maestro: Matt Brown Appointed Resident Conductor
Raunds Temperance Band are pleased to announce Matt Brown as their new Resident Conductor, continuing the successful partnership alongside Musical Director Jonathan Pippen. Matt started playing in his home town, Portsmouth. Aged just 16, he joined the Army as a musician and spent 24 years touring the world performing at a variety of events and military occasions, the highlight of which was a tour to Jordan with The Queen. Hollowell Steam and Heavy Horse Show
What a fantastic weekend! On Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th July, Raunds Temperance Band had a brilliant couple of days at the annual Hollowell Steam and Heavy Horse Show. This event is always a highlight of our summer calendar, and this year didn't disappoint. Across both days, the band performed three full one-hour sets each day, and the audience were treated to a diverse mix of music drawn from our current concert repertoire, ensuring there was a little something for everyone

Welcome to Charlie
The Cornet section gets even stronger as we welcome Charlie to the band Charlie started playing the trumpet at the age of seven before moving on to the cornet. He progressed through NMPAT, culminating in his final year as Principal Cornet of the County Youth Brass Band. During his time with the band, he toured internationally, performing in both Germany and the Czech Republic. Charlie joins us from Olney Brass, where he played for 4 years. Kettering Armed Forces Day
On Saturday 27 June we had wonderful sunny afternoon at Kettering Town Council's Armed Forces Day! We were honoured to be part this special event celebrating and thanking the military community, while recognising the service and sacrifice of our Armed Forces personnel, veterans and their families. Welcome to Oscar!
We're thrilled that Oscar has joined our horn section. Oscar started playing the cornet at the age of 8 before switching to the tenor horn, which he quickly developed a passion for. He currently plays with Youth Brass 2000 and the Northamptonshire County Youth Brass Band, and he particularly enjoys performing as part of ensembles. Area Success for Raunds
On Saturday, Raunds Temperance Band travelled to Bedworth Civic Hall to compete in the Midlands Area First Section contest. Drawn to play sixth, the band took to the stage to perform Andrew Wainwright’s Variations on ‘Was Lebet’. After a strong performance, we were absolutely delighted to be awarded 2nd place – our second consecutive year finishing as runners-up at the contest.
